Kuwait University is starting its affiliation process with CMS. The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS) is a sponsor of this affiliation. The latter supported two summer students to attend the 2019 edition of the CERN Summer Student programme.

The American University of the Middle East (AUM) joined CMS in June 2019 and is collaborating with the GEM detector community.
