Scientists of the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science contributed to CMS in an early phase as members of the tracker team, but then dropped out. Members of the Institute of Solid State Physics of the University of Latvia contributed to the Crystal Clear Project with a study of BGO and PbWO4 scintillators.
The Latvian Academy of Sciences has co-operated with CERN in the extension of EGEE to Latvia. Two Latvian institutes are members of the BalticGrid, namely the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Latvia in Riga, and the Riga Technical University. They also participate in EGEE.
