Change of residence in Switzerland and Swiss"Attestation de Départ" (departure certificate)

1. Change of residence in Switzerland

Members of the personnel have the obligation to inform CERN of any change of address within 30 calendar days (see Article R V 1.38 of the Staff Rules and Regulations).

a) Procedure for those residing in the Canton of Geneva:

Changes of address are directly notified by the Swiss Permanent Mission in Geneva to the "Service Etrangers et Confédérés", therefore no individual formalities are needed at the Office cantonal de la Population et des Migrations.

b) Procedure for those residing in the Canton of Vaud:

Members of personnel have to go in person to the offices of the Contrôle de l'habitant of the commune of residence to communicate their change of address.

2. Swiss “attestation de depart” (departure certificate)

A departure certificate is essential for certain formalities (customs, insurance companies, etc.) relating to a removal involving departure from Switzerland. It is valid for two months and can be issued one month prior to departure at the earliest.

a) Procedure for those residing in the Canton of Geneva:

- it is strongly recommended to proceed by post : complete the form “Annonce de départ” and send it by post, together with a photocopy of your carte de légitimation issued by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, to the Office Cantonal de la Population et des Migrations, case postale 2652, 1211 Genève 2,

or,

- it is possible to go in person to the “Accueil” Section of the Office Cantonal de la Population et des Migrations, 88 Route de Chancy, 1213 Onex (Open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., Wednesdays from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m, tel. 022 546 47 95, http://ge.ch/population/nous-contacter), where you will be required to present your carte de légitimation issued by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs,

b) Procedure for those residing in the Canton of Vaud:

- go in person to the offices of the Contrôle de l'habitant of your commune of residence, where you will be required to present your carte de légitimation issued by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
