The Rwandan Government is keen to develop Information Technology. A Rwandan student received training in digital library techniques in the CERN library in 2007, and a regional workshop was held in Rwanda in 2009, funded by the UNESCO International Basic Science Programme, which also financed a training programme for Rwandan high-school teachers at CERN.

In 2010, an agreement was signed with the Minister of Education, with a view to facilitating training opportunities for Rwandan students and teachers.
