Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s original participation in the early ATLAS Collaboration works had lapsed due to the lack of a sufficiently strong high-energy particle physics community at that time, with the educational and research infrastructure focused then mostly on nuclear physics. Since 2010 relations with Kazakhstan have been developing, concentrating mostly on educational activities, resulting since 2016, at the initiative of the Kazakh physics community, in closer contacts with leading scientific centres and state agencies of Kazakhstan directed towards identifying potential fields of collaboration. These contacts have been concluded with the signature of the International Cooperation Agreement (ICA) between CERN and Kazakhstan in June  2018.
