Global Outreach Activities

Global Outreach advances CERN’s mission by strengthening international engagement and extending the Organization’s impact beyond fundamental research. Bringing together CERN Alumni Relations and Arts at CERN, the section builds long-term relationships, enhances institutional visibility, and fosters cross-sector dialogue.

The Office for Alumni Relations develops and stewards the CERN Alumni Network in order to achieve the following goals:

  • Enable alumni to stay connected to the Organization and its people when they leave CERN
  • Demonstrate the positive impact of a professional CERN experience
  • Develop a network of ambassadors in support of CERN's mission
  • Support those who are in their early careers

The Office for Alumni Relations develops the Strategy to grow and steward the network and its members. At the heart of the CERN Alumni programme is a dedicated platform https://alumni.cern which current and former Members of Personnel are invited to join, providing them with exclusive networking opportunities, a virtual jobs board, targeted events, regional, interest and collaboration groups, inspiring alumni articles, a mentoring module and much more. Established in 2012, Arts at CERN is the Laboratory’s arts programme, inviting artists to engage with CERN’s scientific community through research-driven residencies that generate new works of art connecting science with wider audiences worldwide. Through its multilayered programme of residencies, commissions, and exhibitions, and collaborations with international scientific and cultural institutions worldwide, artists are encouraged to explore how fundamental research investigates the big questions about our universe. Arts at CERN also oversees the CERN Cultural Board, curates the gallery Exploring the Unknown at the Science Gateway, and organises the Art & Science Summit. Email: info.arts@cern.ch

Together, these initiatives expand CERN’s global presence and societal relevance.
