Science Gateway Operations

The Visit & Event Operation section is responsible for providing operational and technical support for CERN’s outreach offer (guided tours, exhibitions, outreach activities in the local area) and events for the public, for the CERN community and for external partners.

The Technical Support and Facility Management section is responsible for providing operational and technical support for the Science gateway,  CERN’s visit points, exhibitions and travelling exhibitions.

Mandate

The mandate includes by sections:

Visit & Event Operation

  • Inform the visitors on the CERN outreach activities (exhibitions, lab workshops, science show, guided tours) and practical information to visit CERN through visit.cern website and other communication channels.
  • Manage visits request for groups (schools, universities and other groups) and the operational aspects of their visit programmes (guides, transport, safety etc.)
  • Manage the CERN Guides Community: communication, promotion, training, evaluation
  • Manage CERN Science Gateway operations (reception, signage, material etc.).
  • Manage and operate CERN Shop at Science Gateway.
  • Manage requests and provide operational support for public, CERN and private events held in CERN Science Gateway campus spaces and in the local area.
  • Participate to the development of outreach activities portfolio in collaboration with the Education, Communication and Outreach Group and other CERN Departments and collaborations.

Technical Support and Facility Management

  • Responsibility for the Science gateway facility management
  • Operate and maintain the technical infrastructure of the Science Gateway, the Globe of Science and Innovation, permanent exhibitions and visit points.
  • Provide technical and logistical support for CERN events held in the Globe and in the Science Gateway
  • Operate, maintain the technical infrastructure and coordinate the transport, mounting and dismounting of CERN’s travelling exhibitions.
