CERN and the Honduran Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation signed in December 2021, an International Cooperation Agreement (ICA) concerning scientific and technical cooperation in High-Energy Physics. This agreement defines the framework for the emerging Honduran scientific and technical community in the field of particle physics to contribute to CERN’s scientific programme.

Individual researchers from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras participate in the LHCb experiment and Honduran students have recently started taking part in the CERN Non-Member State Summer Student Programme.
